įor our systems management, we are using Connectwise Automate (formerly LabTech) with Connectwise Control (formerly ScreenConnect). however with Sophos if the user logoff, the VPN will closeįor the LT2P over IPSec, i heard that its slower than the SSTP as the encapsulating done on 2 steps and for security the SSTP is stronger, while the PPTP are in process to get rid of it and thats why we are considering using the Sophos SSL VPN. since the Windows vpn is done before windows login, is fine if the user logoff, the vpn still there. Therefore they took the habit with the users to logoff before they login and start their support. Indeed the fast switching is working, however my team complains that if they do some manipulation while another session opened, they receive a warning and afraid that some registry would not apply due to the fact the users session is running. by curiosity what do you use as a support package for your remote users ?

In regard of your first question, our team using Dell Kace for the software installations and RDP to support the users. Then you can continue to use the Microsoft client. The UTM9 can also be configured with LT2P over IPSec or PPTP VPN connections to laptops, but you'll have to configure RADIUS on the Windows servers to work that way if you want user/pass for vpn to be synchronized with their Windows password.
User can do this themselves at the User Portal, or you can do it in Web Admin in the Users area.

To authenticate before login? I can tell you that the SSL VPN is a customized version of OpenVPN - so finding an OpenVPN solution that would connect systems before login should work with the Sophos solution - you'll just have to download the config and certificates for the user, instead of the entire install package. I can tell you that if a user's session is logged into a Sophos SSL VPN and you have fast user switching enabled, the admins can login with their admin session and log off without having to touch the user's session.
What are you using to support the remote systems? My support package doesn't require a LAN or VPN connection to reach them - though if you're using remote desktop or VNC and combo with AD GPO delivery I can see the need.
